That First Connection

Ace Saatchi & Saatchi created a Mother’s Day digital video for PLDT Home. Entitled That First Connection, this video showcased how strong connections can lead to strong relationships. With technology often being seen as a barrier to bonding, PLDT wanted to show how the reverse was possible. With PLDT Home, technology supports moms instead of bringing them down. This was to be done in a way that would stand out from the noise of the many typical Mother’s Day efforts of different brands, while also showing the brand’s commitment to making a real and meaningful impact for moms. That First Connection was based on the Big Idea that PLDT Home is a support for all types of mothers. To illustrate that, it showed how, through the use of a WiFi password that was changed daily, a young girl was able to learn more about and eventually build a good relationship with her new stepmom. PLDT is the Philippines’ largest telecommunication company, providing telephony, internet and entertainment services around the country.
